A Movement of Churches, Empowerment, and Lasting Change
What if one village could spark a movement that transforms entire regions—bringing hope, peace, and new beginnings to the most vulnerable communities? This is the heart of Christ-Centered Community Development (CCCD)—a growing movement that combines church planting with sustainable community development, spreading transformation far beyond the borders of a single village.
In remote regions plagued by poverty, conflict, and lack of resources, the answer is not a temporary project. It’s a self-multiplying movement. Villages are transformed physically and spiritually, becoming self-sustaining hubs that inspire and train others. Churches are planted, communities flourish, and lives are changed—all without ongoing external funding.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)
From One Village to Many: The Power of Multiplication
Imagine a village once caught in cycles of poverty and despair. Water was scarce, children lacked education, and women faced enormous health risks. But through Christ-Centered Community Development (CCCD), everything changed.
The village found solutions for clean water, food security, health, and income generation. At the same time, relational disciple-making led to the birth of a new church, bringing spiritual renewal and community unity. As the community became self-sustaining, something extraordinary happened:
Neighboring villages noticed the transformation and wanted to join.
This is how CCCD becomes a movement of multiplication. The core village, now thriving, coaches and trains neighboring communities to achieve the same transformation. Where there was once conflict, there is now peace. Where there was hopelessness, there is now growth, unity, and the love of God in action.
Dhoker Jhara Village: A Story of Hope and Transformation
One example of this multiplication is Dhoker Jhara Village in India. Once a struggling community, Dhoker Jhara now thrives thanks to Transformational Community Development (TCD). It has not only become self-sufficient but is also impacting 16 neighboring villages, mentoring them and helping them find their own solutions for water, income, and health while planting new churches.
What began in one small community is now a movement transforming an entire region.
Empowerment Centers: Transforming Lives, One Woman at a Time
In many impoverished regions, women and children are the most vulnerable. Empowerment Centers were established as part of the CCCD framework to equip women with life-changing skills, empowering them to support their families and improve their communities.
Here, women learn:
- Birth Life-Saving Skills (BLiSS) to reduce maternal and child mortality
- Financial management and business skills for running small businesses
- Literacy and hygiene education for family and community health
These Empowerment Centers are part of a broader network of local trainers who pass on knowledge, ensuring the movement continues to grow. Women trained at these centers often become key leaders, mentoring others and contributing to the multiplication of churches and transformed villages.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
The Steps to Multiplication: How Christ-Centered Community Development Works
Start with One Village
- Build trust and relationships.
- Identify key needs in areas like water, food, health, and education.
- Plant a church that becomes a spiritual hub for the community.
Equip Local Leaders
- Train local leaders in both practical development and disciple-making.
- Empower them to take ownership and mentor others.
Expand to Neighboring Villages
- Neighboring communities join the movement, replicating the transformation.
- New churches are planted, and practical solutions are adapted to local needs.
Celebrate and Share the Stories
- Testimonies of transformation inspire others and glorify God, drawing more communities into the movement.
A Vision for One Million Villages
The Community Health Evangelism (CHE) Network, which already works in over 14,000 villages in 118 countries, is leading the charge toward an ambitious goal: one million transformed villages.
This movement brings both physical and spiritual transformation to the poorest and most unreached regions, fulfilling the Great Commission and restoring lives with the love of Christ.
As churches multiply and communities flourish, the ripple effect is unstoppable. Villages that were once forgotten are now thriving centers of life, hope, and faith—each shining brightly as a city on a hill.
